A Piece of Sensitivity
A journalist’s sensitivity is embodied in his ability to portray
the fact and to depict news with words and data as a factual and truthful piece
of life.
A painter’s sensitivity lies in his ability to portray life—complete with contemplation—and to develop it for the sake of refinement and civilization, using colors that surface through brushes, so as to give deeper significance to humankind and to comprehend the meaning of life.
It is fortunate that BARON BASUNING is both a journalist and a
painting artist. Furthermore, the abstract style that he applies has the
capability to exceed material forms in expressing the abstract of the
experiences that the artist aims to illustrate.
The concept of a “battle” of a strawberry “versus” a corn field
introduced at this exhibition will hopefully enhance our life and our
understanding of the abstract symbolism, which in this case refers to the corn,
as an alternative to rice and the strawberry, which is not a common type of
fruit in this country.
Are the sweet imported produces such as strawberries guaranteed
healthier than corns? The abstract medium provides broader spaces for your
appreciation and contemplation.
Have a great exhibition.
Salute,
Mudji Sutrisno, SJ.
