A Strawberry in a Corn Field

It’s contra-idealistic. A Strawberry in a Corn Field, that’s the theme of my current exhibition. The explanation is very simple; using the analogy of a field where many kinds of plants grow. A piece of a strawberry rolls into a corn field and then grows there.

On the other hand, the sweet strawberry, as the fruit sprouting abundantly in the land across the sea, is not something to be proud of. As an artist who once stayed temporarily in a foreign land before ultimately decided to come back home to the motherland, working and living here is a form of love of this country.

The destiny that demands us to keep on living like the aforementioned strawberry is the life opportunity that each individual should define and endure. The same thing applies to the chance to create that was given to me. I must strive to turn it into a moment to stay evolving in the contemporary situation. “Something that grows” has to be accompanied with spirit, perseverance, hard work and sincerity. And also, a land or a field that never chooses the seeds that grow in it. It is open and accepting; eventually it’s the nature that does the selection.    

The spirit of the little strawberry and a corn field that is willing to genuinely accept; that’s what inspires me to survive, develop, open up and yield when it’s possible.
